Bonnie Watkins has been active in women’s issues for 45 years. She was an architect of Minnesota’s landmark pay equity laws improving women’s pay, and served for nine years as Executive Director of the Minnesota Women’s Consortium. The Consortium was a network of 150+ organizations focused on all aspects of women’s rights, notably improving representation, addressing health concerns, fighting for human rights and self-determination, peace and safety, and economic justice. Since her retirement, Bonnie has become part of the Ogitchidakwe Council drum group, which offers healing and advocacy training for sexual assault and all forms of trauma, especially for indigenous women. Through her past and present activities, Bonnie engages in life long learning about how to be a part of the turning toward prevention and peace.
